In my post following the March on Europe in London, I announced my decision to visit all 27 ‘other’ countries in the EU while my British Passport still affords me the rights of a European Citizen. Although it wasn’t quite planned that way, I have started in the lower left hand corner with a visit to Portugal.
I spent some time in Faro in January, which I told you about in March, here is a little more of this lovely seaside town in the Algarve. The conference at the time was in this hotel, overlooking the marina and some modern public art representing the sea:
I went for a walk through the town on the Friday morning of the conference when I didn’t have any work on, past the city square heavy with the scent of these blossoms
and then on through this archway
The brickwork inside the arch is stunning and makes me wonder whether the skills that built it remain alive.
Next week I’ll show you what I found on the other side of the arch!
