Leaving the Pacific Ocean

My departure from Sydney was on the Indian Pacific, which fortunately doesn’t change its name when it travels from the Pacific Ocean to the Indian Ocean.

It is also operated by Great Southern Railways and the interior was pretty much the same as on the Ghan.

The first section of the journey took us through the Blue Mountains, made particularly photogenic by the extraordinary clouds.

There were a couple of interesting bridges, one of which we passed over.

And a little more confusing for me, somebody had decided to put an old railway locomotive in their front garden!

On two occasions we were able to ‘see ourselves’ as it were, as the train snaked its way around corners.
