Tallinn has a natural harbour, presumably the origin of the city. It is a regular stop of Baltic cruise ships, which will stop for a day in the Estonian capital.
Considering my ambition to visit the other 27 EU countries before March 2019 was triggered alongside Article 50, I felt just a little bit jealous about the pride with which these flags fly along the street from the harbour to the city.
The old city itself is protected from invaders by a large wall which has a gate next to Fat Margaret’s Tower on the seaward side.
Once through the gate, the old city has been well preserved, with criss-crossing streets and tall houses.
