The name of the train I am travelling on from Chicago to New York is the Lake Shore Limited. It is named that in memory of the Lake Shore Railroad company which together with the Michigan Southern Railroad company used to operate trains in this part of the US.
I am sure the addition of the word ‘Limited’ refers to the kind of company that operated the Lake Shore line, however I will apply it to the extent of the view of the lakes you get while travelling on it. There is one very short part of the journey, just past Erie where you can see Lake Erie and had a fellow passenger not pointed it out to me I would have missed it. I didn’t have the time to take a picture of it either.
Now that I know this, I am very glad I stopped off at Erie, PA with the intention of dipping my foot in a Great Lake.
