I had expected to board the train in Indiana at around midnight from Elkhart station (previously frequented by Mrs & Mrs Hope).
I was due to leave the train again in Pennsylvania at 7am having passed through Ohio over night. Those familiar with the Amtrak system will have guessed that track work and freight trains delayed us and at 7 am we hadn’t reached Cleveland yet.
We finally reached Cleveland at 10:30. It is a ‘smoke break’ stop meaning that the train waits in the station for about 10 minutes to allow passengers fresh (or not so fresh) air depending on their inclination. There wasn’t much to see on an overcast day, here is some evidence that I have stepped foot on Ohio soil.
