St Mary of the Flower

Having admired the dome of the cathedral of Florence, we did of course also walk over and admire it closer up.

The bell tower stands next to the cathedral rather than having been integrated into the church.

This piazza is considered the most visited attraction in Tuscany. The queues outside were testament to this and we decided to only admire the exterior.

The detailed work on the marble outside is stunning and the evenness makes me wonder whether the craftsmen were incredibly skilled or whether there was just a lot of wastage!
