Ghostly Gum

After a pleasant dinner and good night’s sleep on the Ghan, we arrived in Alice Springs the next morning.  Once again, being on the Expedition Ghan there were a number of off-train excursions to choose from.  I decided on the most hike-y one and was not disappointed by the amount of the central bush I got to see.  Our first stop off was this short stroll.

Once we started seeing the Ghost Gums it was quite clear why they are called that.  Along this walk we saw quite a few small trees, culminating in a stop under this one, presumed to be around 200 years old.  Watching the sun through the leaves and on white wood was stunning, and I could have spent a lot longer sitting under this tree.
