From the cells on the top floor of one wing, inmates could glimpse the Thames from their windows. ArtAngel used this as inspiration to commission and exhibit water inspired artworks. The most impactful of which is ‘Still Water’ by Roni Horn.
From a distance, these pictures seem a little bland. Photos of water with small numbers super imposed.
The real enjoyment of these pictures comes in the words underneath, describing each of the numbered spots. In the album below, I’ve reproduced some the words under a couple of these pictures and highly recommend you read them. They are both funny, sad, absurd and insightful.
